Properties with Georgian style windows and doors are sometimes subject to special conditions but there were many houses built in the 1950s – including council housing estates – with them. The iconic industrial aesthetic has long been a favourite among homeowners of period properties, although they did come with a host of issues. Single glazing led to condensation and inefficient insulation, while the metal frames required constant repainting.
A key feature of Georgian windows and doors is the use of bars that divide the glass into smaller panes. This design dates back to a time before the mid-19th century when glass could only be produced in small sizes, necessitating the use of glazing bars for larger windows and doors. Though no longer necessary for these technical reasons, they remain popular for their aesthetic appeal in the UK and other countries.

Unlike older installations of this style, our Georgian style patio doors are double glazed, meeting British Standards and bearing the Kitemark. And with powder-coated finishes available in a range of RAL colours, you can say goodbye to the hassle of constant repainting.
What truly sets SunSeeker apart is our fully retractable design. Unlike Georgian bar French doors or Georgian bifold doors, our Georgian doors have a main door to one side which can open inwards or outwards, enabling the next door along to slide towards the open door and also open… and so on…
